  • 2 large green apples peeled, cored and cut into small chunks
  • 2 cups frozen raspberries
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 3 tablespoons wholemeal flour
  • 1 tablespoon caster sugar
  • 1.5 tablespoons vegetable margarine (e.g. canola or olive) cut into small cubes
  • canola oil spray


  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C
  2. Add the apples, raspberries, brown sugar and water to saucepan. Cook over a low-medium heat for 5 minutes or until apple begins to soften. Remove from heat and set aside
  3. In a medium bowl, place the flour and oats and mix well. Add margarine and mix with your fingertips until it resembles an even crumb texture. Add the caster sugar and mix until well combined
  4. Lightly spray a small ovenproof dish with oil and spread the apple mixture evenly over the base of the dish
  5. Cover the fruit with the crumble mixture. Bake for approximately 20 minutes until the crumble is firm and the apple hot
  6. Lightly spray the top of the crumble with canola oil and put under the oven grill for 2 minutes (or until the top of the crumble is slightly browned)

Serve with reduced fat custard or low fat yoghurt

For variety, try adding 1/3 cup chopped nuts and 1/4 tsp cinnamon to the crumble mixture
