Prep: 125+ min
Dietary: ,
Cost: $

  • 1 cup natural muesli
  • 2/3 - 1 cups reduced fat yoghurt plain or flavoured
  • 1 green apple peeled and grated
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well
  2. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours but preferably overnight
  3. Serve cold – add a little more yoghurt or milk if you find the mixture too thick

Serves in 1 portion

  • Fruit1/2
  • Cereals2
  • Dairy1/2

What was swapped?

Full fat yoghurt was swapped for low fat yoghurt

Swap a greasy bacon breakfast for this low fat, high fibre bircher muesli!

Variation: add 1/3 cup of crushed nuts to provide half a serve of meat/meat alternatives

If the fruits you like are not in season, look in the supermarket freezer for the frozen option. Use the necessary portion and keep the remainder in the freezer for next time

This recipe is brilliant, thank you!
The idea of yoghurt rather than milk never occurred to me as a porridge-style way of making museli/oats. I would love to see more recipes on your website, though this one (seemingly simple) has won me over. :) cheers
