San Choy Bow

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 400 grams lean pork mince
  • 100 grams lean beef mince
  • 1 garlic clove crushed
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger finely grated
  • 230 grams water chestnuts drained and finely chopped
  • 3 shallots finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup oyster sauce
  • 1/4 cup reduced salt soy sauce
  • 100 grams bean sprouts washed and drained
  • 12 iceberg lettuce leaves washed and patted dry with paper towel


  1. Heat a non-stick frying pan to medium-high heat, and spray with oil
  2. Add beef and pork mince. Cook until mince is browned
  3. Add garlic and ginger and cook for 2 minutes
  4. Add water chestnuts and shallots and stir through for 1 minute
  5. Add the oyster and soy sauces and stir until well combined
  6. Remove from heat and transfer to a serving bowl. Stir in bean sprouts until just wilted
  7. Place lettuce leaves on a serving tray, cup side facing upwards. Fill with mince mixture and serve immediately
